WM Phoenix Open
The Waste Management Phoenix Open is a professional PGA golf tournament held in late January/early February at the Tournament Players Club (TPC) in Scottsdale, Arizona.
First established in 1932, the four-day tournament moved to its current TPC home in 1987, and is one of the highest attended events in the annual PGA Tour calendar. In 2016, over 553,000 visitors attended the Phoenix Open, which was won by Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama.
Seidman, in partnership with ASU’s W. P. Carey School of Business Department of Marketing, has implemented economic impact studies of out-of-state visitors to the 2012, 2017 and 2022 tournaments at the TPC, based on surveys of out-of-state visitors and organizational expenditure associated with each event.
